To complete a PTE Academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test center. You will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and respond to questions.

PTE Academic is a computer-based exam that is delivered through Pearson VUE's secure network of test centers.You can register for the exam online at www.pearsonpte.com and schedule your test at a time convenient for you.
After taking the test, you will be notified by email when your PTE Academic scores are available. Using your account, you will be able to view your scores and send them to institutions of your choice.Your test results will be presented in a score report.
You can take the test as often as you wish, but you can only schedule one test at a time.Subsequently tests may be scheduled immediately after you recieve your scores. If you take the test more than once, you can select which score to send to an institution.
No. PTE Academic is a test of your English ability. The test covers a range of subjects, but you are not being tested on these subjects.
You do not need any special computer skills. To familiarize yourself with the test we suggest you: – Review the test preparation resources. – We recommend taking one of our Scored Practice Tests to get used to the timing and moving through each type of question. PTE Academic is taken using a QWERTY keyboard, where the letters on the top line spell out ‘QWERTY’. IF you are not used to this type of keyboard, it may help to practice with one before you take the test.
You must be at least 16 years old. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must provide a signed parental consent form before taking the test. Complete the form, then follow the instructions printed on it to send it to us. Download the form here.

Palm vein recognition scans the veins inside your hand to create a digital template that represents your palm vein pattern. The scanner uses a near-infrared light source, similar to a remote control – and you never touch the sensor.

If you are unhappy with your PTE Academic score, you may request a rescore. Before doing this, test takers should take the following into consideration:
To order a rescore, you must contact Pearson Customer Service within 14 calendar days of your score report being made available to you.
The fee for rescores is available from the Customer Service team. In the unlikely event that either your Overall, Communicative Skills or Enabling Skills scores change, the rescore fee will be fully refunded.
Contact the relevant customer service team as soon as you know you are going to be late. If you arrive up to 15 minutes late you may still be allowed to take it. You will still get the full three hours to complete the test.
If you arrive over 15 minutes late you will not be allowed to take the test and you will lose your fee.
If you fail to turn up to your appointment you will not generally receive a refund.
You may receive a partial refund if you cancel your test before the appointment date.
For your best chance of a refund, contact the customer service team in your region. In some circumstances we will try to reschedule your test free of charge.
